The medal stand has been a familiar place for the McKenzie Rebel track team. Thursday at its own invitational meet, senior John Campbell and junior Mark Cole were award high-point trophies. Campbell was the top scorer in field events whil Cole shared the prize with Union City's Scott Huff for track honors.
In all, the Rebels and Lady Rebels were each fourth among the crowded team standings. University School of Jackson won the event, followed by Trinity, then Union City in the girls' meet. In the boys' event, Union City was first, USJ was second and Class 3A Hardin County was third.
For the girls, Kenisha Willians was second in the discus, Christine Mason was third in the 400 meters, Wynter Strayhorn was third in the 300 hurdles, Hannah Scruton was third in the 800. Williams was fourth in the shot put, Trevatia Bowden was fourth in the long jump and high jump,Scruton was fourth in the 1600, Alex Gray was sixth in the discus, Strayhorn was sixth in the 100 hurdles, Mason sixth in the long jump, Angelique Teague was seventh in the shot and Gray seventh in the 200.
In the 4x400 relay, Abby Carlton, Becky Jones, Mason and Cruton took third. In the 4x200 relay, Kelsey Cooper, Gray, Jones and Strayhorn were sixth.
In the boys meet, Campbell was first in the discus, Mark Cole was first in the 3200 and 1600. Harris Laughrey was second in the 400, Evan Rogers was third in the triple jump, Hunter Herrin fourth in the high jump, Connor Scruton fifth in the 1600, Rogers seventh in the high jump and Andrew Semirosum was eighth in the 800.
In the 4x800 relay, the team of Semirosum, John Johnson, Herrin and Scruton took second. In the 4x400, Jake Johnson, Laughrey, John Johnson and Cole finished second. In the 4x200, Campbell, John Johnson, Jake Johnson and Austin McKinney teamed for eighth.
